this has been whizzing around the web this morning, getting a little more comment space than i think it merits. is the content disturbing? why yes, yes it is. but not surprising. i mean, it was written in october, when all the redistricting went down. and it was written by some staffer, not george bush, although i'm sure he feels the same way. the question is, does he *spell* as badly?
this guy - joby fortson - (we certainly want to give him credit for this) managed to spell "district" in four completely different ways (distrioct, distrcit, diestrict, and dsitrict) in just the first seven points of his THIRTY TWO point email. i stopped after that but there could have been more. according to andrew jackson, "it's a damn poor mind that can only think of one way to spell a word." obviously a genius is at work in rep. joe barton's (r-tx) office.
point 31 seemed disturbing in a couple of ways. at first i thought it was the spelling, and then i read it again. then i thought it might be that 20% of bush's presidential money came from one zip code. but then, after a couple of passes, i think there was something about the way he said "ARE republican."
31 - Sessions - still has the Park Cities (rich Dallas) and north Dallas. However, he pciks up some hispanic voters from the old Frost district. This is still a VERY republcian seat as people from the Park Cities vote in great numbers. remember this is the infamous 75225 zip code which raise alomst 20% of Bush's presidential money and voted in the largets precinct 97% Bush-3% Dukakis. This district does not just have people who vote republican but people who ARE republican. (remains R)
Posted by ash at 03:33 PMthis is my nephew. isn't he beautiful? i miss him very much. although i was doing very well in the beginning, seeing him 7 out of his first 7 days, now he has passed several important milestones without me... such as rolling over front to back, rolling over back to front, getting a tooth, first christmas, eating cereal, and so on. i have encouraged his family to move to philadelphia so he could grow up in a cooler place, but they like where they live now i think. since you can buy a whole house there for $25,000 i don't blame them. i think his dad's new truck cost more than that.
last weekend i went to charleston, sc for valentine's day. it was very wonderful, but as most wonderful things go, quite secret-like. i ate a lot of chocolate and got presents and stayed in bed late. and other nice things.
