Carlos!

the title of this article is "Spencer leads Blues to Super 12 victory." that's right, my carlos. led the blues. to victory. to super 12 victory. did i make my usual boasts, write any poetry or other odes to his greatness? no, there's been nary a carlos post in over a year. weary of being mocked for adoring this man even though he hadn't been selected for an all-blacks roster in 3 years, when the time came to pick a team for the super 12 final this year, i decided to believe in the power of the history. love had let me down. i put up a packet of toffee pops *against* the magic man, carlos spencer.

but carlos led the blues to super 12 victory. even without me. someone whose authority i trust told me that at the end of the game he fell to his knees and cried out my name. assuming that his stellar performance this season will put him back in black, there's still time for me to support him this year. i will stay up all night to watch carlos play tri-nations rugby, if i have to. i can't believe i actually bet against him.

update (sunday/monday): carlos - in! girls blouse andrew mehrtens - out! (ha. ha. ha.) and also out - christian cullen! (sorry ladies.)

in other news, several blues players were involved in a post-game altercation at spy bar. while two players lost their cool, stuff.co.nz reports that carlos was diplomatically trying to "smooth things over." what a man!

'twas a great game too ash! although your man carlos did drop the ball at one stage and give away a try, the rest of his performance was pretty good. he'll be unlucky if he misses out on a black jersey tomorrow.

He's got to be a shoo-in for the first five berth, I'd think. The only other competition he's got is from Mehrtens, who is looking more and more like evil fat Elvis. More scurrilous rumours -- the reason Mehrts has been spending more time on the bench than on the paddock because he's spent far too much time at the bar. He's turned up drunk to training a few times this year. Naughty. Anyhow Carlos has the most flair and talent of any first five in the world, probably tied with Larkham. His redone arm tats are kickass. This year, with the right forward pack providing good ball, he's been awesome. Team gets named today. Expect good news. I think most of the AB's games are live on FoxSport Ash. Just might require you to get up at 3am to get your jollies. ;-)

Well, he's in and Mehrtens ain't. Carlos is in control. Reserve first five Daniel Carter is also worth a perv Ash. The girls here rate him almost as highly as 'Los.

oh, and fras, remember we don't have fox sports world? and how we went all over trying to find some place with the rugby on that time? well, darling roommate has just gone out and purchased a new dish system and signed us up for sports package so we will have access to every game in universe, even high school curling in ireland. not just because of carlos, of course. just because we're worth it.

Ash, the annoying thing is that I REMEMBER seeing a live game at your place. The channel was FoxSport. Mike's new purchase underlines his title of king of flatmates. He must be master of budgeters now too.

Opinion on Mr Dan Carter? Female work production levels have dropped off since someone found a magazine article with him sans top.
You'll also be delighted to know that the All Black backs will be wearing super tight tops this year. Andrew Mehrtens surely cannot play now. Beer bellies don't look good in lycra.

dan carter - dreamy. but not carlos spencer. i'll stable him for later. we do get fox sports - just not fox sports world, which is usually what rugby is played on, as well as soccer, rally racing, and any other international-type sport which is not of interest to the general public.

Carlos is bound to need a little spell on the bench from his exertions, so perhaps D. Carter has his uses. Not a bad sub, eh.
Thing is Ash, this lust for rugby can work for you. You can appear flash and urbane by saying that Football is so passe (the hook is cast) and that you have tastes that extend beyond borders.
All this when really your tastes just extend to an exclusive group of men with funny accents, hard stomachs and tight shorts.

Last summer I was in London...talking down the street with my wife...down by the posh hotels close to hyde park. Who did I see walking down the street...the all blacks in there kit. It blew me away. I was speechless...and ask ash...that doesn't happen....ever

fras: really it's just the funny accents that do it for me, hard stomachs and tight shorts is just cake. i have never seen haynie speechless it's true. but what i would really like to see is certain all-blacks without their kit.

Hyde Park is probably my favourite place in London Haynie. I've devoted more diary and blog entries to that particular part of London than I can remember. Did you check out Speaker's Corner on a Sunday?
I guess compared to footballers the All Blacks don't look so big and frightening but en masse and in their number 1s (shirts, ties, blazers etc) they do look awesome.
Ash, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Carlos take up modelling once he gives up the game. That cheeky glint in his eye is the protective father's worst enemy. I hope there's another four years or more in him until that happens for rugby's sake. I'm not sure you'd say the same. ;-)

Fras, Yeah Speakers Corner is way cool. But I love london anyway. I mean it's not Scotland...but for England it is choice. I just can't spend enough time in london. You are lucky that you ever got to see the toffeepops advert. I only got to hear about from my Wellington buddies living in London. Fell for Carlos at first sight,but there's no coverage of NZ rugby in the U.K. I plan to emigrate!!!

and regrettably during that time I threw caribbean cruise away a lot of material which I could've cruise done something with now. I had a real ski vacation block around lyrics for songs I was writing, budget car rental in particular. And one thing that really last minute travel helped to lift me out of that self-damning las vegas hotel phase was to go into the studio with Phil vacation

whats this bullshit about carlos being best in the world?! thats is bullshit and im not just saying this becoz i dont like the guy, he is just plainly not very good! he is nothing spectacular, merhts is still no.1 1st 5 in nz, carlos isnt half the man merhts is. and as for dan carter... he is the best 2nd five in nz and probably nearly the best in the world and hes damn sexy! and any of you other bitches who think you like him, no of you would ever love him as much as i do, i love him more than all you you out there put together!
